Who we are

Kontax is a sole-trader business based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal information described below. You can contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected].

What we collect

We only collect information that you give us when you use the contact form or the inquiry form on this website, or when you email us. This can include your name, email address, phone number, details of your car and project, any files you attach, and the contents of your message.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

• To reply to your message and discuss a possible build or quote. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in running our business.
• To carry out a build or service if you become a customer. Legal basis: performing a contract.
• To keep records we are required to keep, for example for tax. Legal basis: legal obligation.

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for automated decision-making. We do not send marketing emails unless you ask us to.

Who handles your information

• Our own mail server receives what you type into our forms (including any photos, which we shrink before emailing them to ourselves) and stores it in our mailbox.
• Brevo, an email delivery service based in France, sends you the confirmation email after you submit a form. It receives your name and email address for that purpose.
• Our email and hosting providers store the messages we receive and the website files.
• Cloudflare delivers this website and protects it from abuse. It processes visitors' IP addresses to do this.
• Google Fonts serves the typeface used on this site, which means your browser requests it from Google.
• YouTube videos on the Showcase page are loaded in privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube does not set cookies until you play a video.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it does not build individual profiles.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that do not lead to work for up to 12 months and then delete them. Information about customers and builds is kept for as long as we work together and afterwards for as long as the law requires, normally up to six years for financial records.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to give you a copy of it. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
